Child Abuse & Neglect.
Child abuse and neglect is not always about the physical damage, but also about the emotional damage. There are different types of child abuse such as neglect, physical, emotional, and sexual. Ignoring the child, leaving him or her unattended, or even putting them in a dangerous situation is considered abuse and neglect. It is important to detect the abuse as early as possible so the child can be treated or the abuse can be terminated at an early stage. In most cases, the child may become the victim of a family member or close friend simply because they trust this person. In most cases, a parent is not aware of the abuse until unfortunately it is too late and fatal tragedies occur.
Warning signs of child abuse and neglect include; fearful or anxious about doing something wrong, Unexplained bruises in the body, injuries appear to have marks that can be matched with objects such as belts, child is frequently unsupervised, hygiene is constantly bad, tries to avoid certain people, or runs away from home; to name a few.
Effects of child abuse and neglect consist of lack of trust, feelings of being useless or damaged, and trouble regulating emotions. Once a child loses trust with their parents, it is very difficult for the child to comfortably let them know what is going on. This can lead to problems later on in the child's life when they are trying to maintain a friendship or a relationship because they might be afraid of being controlled or abused.
